Cheese Pizza
Pizza is not native to Tyria. As best I can tell, it made its way from North America to Elona via Nicholas the Traveler sometime in the 11th century AE. Krytan chefs attempted to recreate the dish based on a description Nicholas gave to Durmand on one of his many visits to Lion's Arch. Unfortunately some details of the preparation seem to have been lost in translation. Whether this was down to Nicholas' misunderstanding of the dish or Durmand or the chefs misinterpreting his description is now lost to history. Whatever the source, Tyrian chefs now turn out pizzas that are similar to, yet fundamentally different from Terran ones.
The main point of divergence seems to be a failure to realize that Terran pizzas use a yeasted, bread-like crust. It seems like Tyrian chefs settled on a pastry-based crust very early on and have not wavered from this path. I have constructed a traditional Tyrian cheese pizza here, so that you can see the results. That said, I do think the Terrans are onto something with their bread-y crusts and heartily recommend you give it a try if you ever find yourself making pizzas.
1 The cheese used on Tyrian pizza is highly variable. Chefs tend to default to whatever the most common/popular local variety is. Firm cheeses that have been aged at least a few months are reasonably common; things roughly akin to Cheddar, Colby, or Gouda.) Sometimes very hard, well-aged cheeses are used (although the quantity is generally reduced in this case). For this rendition, I used a "pizza mozzarella" + a little Parmesan. Back
