Welcome to the Food of Tyria!
Every land and every culture has its own unique flavours and cuisine. I have had the great fortune to sample many of these during my travels. I have enjoyed a great number of delicious and memorable meals since leaving Tyria, but sometimes... Sometimes one craves the flavours of home. And so I have embarked on a quest to recreate some of the dishes of my childhood in Kryta as well as others that I encountered once I began traveling more widely throughout Tyria.
I have done my best to faithfully reproduce each recipe. However, some things may not be exact. Many of these dishes have regional variations. Many are meals that I enjoyed often as a child, but never had a specific recipe for. And some simply cannot be reproduced outside of Tyria. (You try finding dolyak meat in upstate New York! Or omnomberries in rural Saskatchewan! It cannot be done.) In cases where the ingredients are simply not available, I've done my best to find reasonable substitutes. For example, while dolyaks may be unheard of here, I have found that the North American "bison" makes an excellent substitute.
I suppose I should also make a quick comment on seasonings as well. If you ever chance to visit Tyria, you may note that many of the written recipes make no mention of salt or pepper. These common seasonings are so common, in fact, that they are assumed in most savoury recipes. Only in instances where their inclusion is considered to be non-obvious are they specifically mentioned. So, if a recipe seems like it should have salt and pepper but does not mention it, one should assume an implicit "add salt and pepper to taste" in the instructions.
And so, with those notes and disclaimers in mind, I hope you will enjoy discovering the foods of my homeland as much as I have enjoyed recreating them!
