Strawberry Apple Compote
You may be used to thinking of compotes as a topping or a component in other desserts. Tyrians take a different approach to their compotes and serve them as stand-alone desserts. I usually like to add a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top of mine but, in general, I'm a big fan of this approach. Not that compotes don't make great toppings (they do), but taking the approach that the compote is the dessert makes for a wonderfully light and easy-to-prepare after-meal treat.
Strawbery Apple Compote
Ingredients
- 1 Cinnamon Apple
- 10-12 large strawberries, hulled
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
Directions
- Combine all ingredients over medium heat and cook until sugar is dissolved and fruit is softened.
- Serve warm or cold with ice cream, whipped cream, or on its own.
