Drottot's Poached Eggs

This recipe is a bit of an oddity. It is named after its creator, Drottot, an old Charr devourer trainer in Ascalon. What makes it a bit peculiar is that the Charr diet tends to consist of meat and more meat. They put even the meat-loving Norn to shame. Where a Norn will happily sit down to a savoury meat pie, the Charr find the pastry completely superfluous and would prefer to have their meat unadulterated by such starchy contrivances. So, when Drottot presented me with a recipe for eggs, of all things, I was more than a little surprised. It turns out that, although it doesn't form the majority of their diet, Charr will occasionally partake of eggs, milk, and cheese. And so, it is my pleasure to share with you one of the few egg recipes of Charr origin!

Drottot's Poached Eggs
eggs (1 per person)
fresh chilies (bird's eye are good, but many others will also work well)

Fill a small pot with water and bring to a boil. Crack an egg into a small dish. Mince 1 fresh chili and sprinkle it over the egg. Once the water is boiling, reduce heat to medium. Stir the water to form a gentle vortex and pour the egg into the centre. Allow to cook for 2-3 minutes so the white is set but the yolk is still runny. Scoop egg out of the water with a slotted spoon.
Drottot recommends enjoying the egg on its own, sprinkled with salt and pepper, but for those of us with a slightly more omnivorous digestive tract, I suggest serving it on a slice of buttered toast. Feel free, of course, to season with salt and pepper to taste.
